Basics
What is Myntley?
A chores and rewards app for families. You create tasks worth points called Mynts, your kids do them, you approve, and they trade Mynts for rewards you set up. Parents and kids both use the app, each with their own screens.
What age is it for?
About 4 to 14. The kid screens use big buttons, icons, and color, with very little reading.
What are Mynts?
Myntley's points. You decide how many each task is worth and what each reward costs, and the app suggests values to start from. Mynts are only worth money if you turn on money tracking and set a rate.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes. Create your family, add a kid, and add a couple of tasks and a reward. A setup checklist on the Home screen walks you through it, and you can reopen it from the Family tab.
Tasks & schedules
What kinds of tasks can I create?
Two kinds. Earn Mynts tasks add Mynts when they're done. Lose Mynts tasks take Mynts away, for things like talking back. You record Lose Mynts tasks yourself. If you'd rather talk about it first, choose Let's talk: nothing is taken, and you decide later in Approvals.
What schedules are available?
Every day, weekdays, weekends, specific days (like Mon, Wed, Fri), a number of times a week on any days, and until done. Until-done tasks can have a due date. The calendar shows what's scheduled and what was done each day.
Can a task count more than once a day?
Yes. Set it to count once, a set number of times, or as many times as it happens. Weekly tasks reset on the day you choose as the start of your week.
Can different kids have different tasks?
Yes. Give a task to everyone or to specific kids. Kids only see tasks that are theirs.
How many Mynts should a task be worth?
The app suggests a value based on how often the task repeats, and the reward editor estimates how many days of earning a reward will take. You can always enter your own number.
Can I reuse tasks I've already set up?
Yes. Save any task or reward to reuse it. The editor also has quick picks for common chores and rewards, and your saved ones show up alongside them.
What happens to finished until-done tasks?
Once every kid it's assigned to has been approved, it moves to a collapsed Done section at the bottom of the list. You can still open it, or swipe to archive it.
My kid forgot to check something off. Can they add it later?
Yes. Kids can tap I forgot to check something off and add a task from an earlier day, going back a few days. A parent still approves it. Parents can also record a task for an earlier day from the task's screen.
Can a kid suggest a task?
Yes. They type the idea and it waits in Approvals. You can decline it, or open it in the task editor to set the Mynts, schedule, and who it's for.
Approvals & Mynts
Why does a parent have to approve?
So Mynts only come from things a parent has seen. When a kid checks off a task, it waits for approval, and their balance changes once you approve it. If you record a task yourself, the Mynts are added right away.
Where do approvals show up?
In Approvals, which you open from the Home screen. It lists checked-off tasks, reward requests, requests to turn Mynts into money, Let's talk items, and ideas from kids. It updates live, so when one parent handles something, it disappears for the other. Approve all skips money requests, so those always get their own decision.
Can I give or take Mynts by hand?
Yes, from a kid's page, with a reason. It shows in their history as an adjustment.
Can I undo something?
Yes, any award or reward. An undo adds a correcting entry instead of deleting the original, which stays in the history marked Undone. It also gives back what the entry used up: a daily repeat, a weekly reward limit, or a higher repeat price.
Can a balance go below zero?
No. If a kid loses more Mynts than they have, the balance stops at zero and the history notes how many weren't taken. Kids never owe Mynts.
What if both parents act at the same time?
That's fine. Every action is recorded separately, so balances add up the same whatever order things happen in. If you both undo the same entry, the second person sees that it's already undone.
Rewards & unlocking
How do rewards work?
You create rewards and set their cost in Mynts. Kids see how many Mynts they still need and can ask for a reward once they have enough. You approve and the Mynts come off. You can also give a reward directly from its screen.
Can I stop a reward being claimed over and over?
Three ways: limit it to a number of times per day, week, or month; make it one time, so it's archived after it's given; or make it cost more each time on the same day. The server enforces all three.
How do I make chores happen before spending?
In the Family tab, open When kids can spend and choose one:
- Always open: kids can ask for rewards any time.
- Finish every must-do: every must-do task due today has to be approved first.
- Earn a minimum (must-do only): enough Mynts from must-do tasks, or all must-dos finished.
- Earn a daily target (any task): approved tasks that day have to add up to a number you pick. Must-do flags are ignored.
With either target, the kid's Spend screen shows how many more Mynts they need.
Which option should I use?
If a few chores really have to happen, use Finish every must-do. If any useful work should count, use the daily target. It's one number, and you don't have to mark tasks as must-do.
Can rewards be screen time?
Yes. Give a reward a timer, and when you give it you can start a countdown. Your phone reminds you when time is up. It's only a reminder. Myntley can't lock other apps on the device.
Can a kid save up for something big?
Yes. Rewards show how many Mynts are still needed, and with interest turned on, saved Mynts grow while they wait.
Can siblings save for one reward together?
Yes, if you have more than one kid. Pick one reward as the shared family reward in the Family tab. Each kid chooses how many of their Mynts to add, you can see who added what, and contributions can be refunded until the reward is claimed.
Can a reward link to a product?
Yes. Add a website link when you create a reward, or when a kid suggests one. Myntley suggests a name and picture, and you can change either. Anyone in the family can open the link from the reward's details.
Can a kid suggest a reward?
Yes. A kid can send a reward idea with an optional link. It waits in Approvals until you set the cost, limits, and picture.
Kids & devices
How does a kid sign in?
With your family code, their username, and a 6-digit PIN you set. No email address and no phone number.
What if we only have one phone?
Use kid mode. Your phone shows only that kid's screens, and switching back to parent mode needs the parent PIN set on that phone. The Android back button won't get around it. In Family → Kid mode, choose whether taps need your approval or count right away.
Does a username have to be unique?
Only within your family. Another family having a kid with the same username doesn't matter. Capital letters are fine.
Can a kid change their own settings?
Only how things look: their profile emoji and color, light or dark mode, and whether sounds play. Anything that affects Mynts is parent-only.
What can a kid see?
Their own tasks, balance, history, and badges, the family's rewards, and their money jars if money tracking is on for them. They can't see family settings, another kid's history, or anything from another family.
Can I remove a kid without losing their history?
Yes. Removing a kid hides them and keeps their history. You can also permanently delete a kid's account and all of their history, which is also how you withdraw consent.
Parents & family
How do I add my partner?
In the Family tab, open Sign-in & co-parent access and create an invite, then send it to them. It works once and expires after seven days. They get the same full access you have.
What's the difference between the family code and an invite?
The family code is for kids signing in, and it's fine to share with them. An invite is for adding a parent. Invites are separate, single-use, and expire, so a code a kid knows can never give parent access.
Which time zone does “today” use?
Your family's, which you set once. Not each device's, so a kid at a grandparent's house in another time zone and a parent at home agree on when the day resets and when streaks count. You also choose which day your week starts on.
We're traveling. Will days reset at the wrong time?
Change the family time zone in the Family tab while you're away, and change it back when you're home. Each family has one time zone, so every device agrees on what “today” means.
Money tracking
Does Myntley move real money?
No, and it won't. There's no connection to any bank or card. Money in Myntley is a record your family keeps.
What does money tracking do?
It keeps track of money you've agreed to give your kids. Turn it on for each kid from their page, and set what a Mynt is worth in Family → Money & saving (for example, 100 Mynts = $5). Kids can then ask to turn Mynts into money, and you approve it.
What are the Spend, Save, and Give jars?
Three jars that hold a kid's tracked money. When a kid turns Mynts into money, they choose how much goes in each jar. After that, they can move money between jars without asking. Only Save earns interest.
How does a kid get the actual money?
They ask for money from a jar. You hand it over and tap Paid, which records it. You can also add money or pay out by hand from the kid's page.
Do tasks or rewards have a cash value?
No. Mynts are the only thing that turns into money, at your family's rate. The task editor shows roughly what a task is worth at that rate, for reference only.
Do I have to turn it on for every kid?
No. It's set per kid, and kids without it never see anything about money.
What is interest?
An optional daily percentage added to saved balances, with an optional daily cap. You choose whether it applies to Mynts, to money in the Save jar, or both. Set it up in Family → Interest.
Progress & stats
What do kids see about their own progress?
A level, a day streak, all-time Mynts earned, tasks done, and a badge case. Levels are based on Mynts earned, so spending never lowers them, and badges stay earned even after a streak ends. If an award is undone, it no longer counts toward the level.
What do parents see?
Every family gets each kid's level, balance, Mynts earned and spent for a week, month, or all time, streak, and last 7 days. Myntley Plus adds a 30-day balance chart, which tasks Mynts come from and where they're lost, and full money and adjustment history. On a kid's page, tap Today to see which tasks are to do, waiting for approval, or done.
Can I see the full history?
Yes. Each kid's page has a history you can filter by date, and every entry shows where it came from.
Reminders & sounds
Can Myntley remind us about a task?
Yes. Give a task a reminder time and the phone reminds you each day, or on the due date for until-done tasks. Reward timers work the same way. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself. Allow notifications in Family → Notifications.
Will I get a notification when my kid checks off a task?
Not yet. For now, Approvals on the Home screen updates live while the app is open, and you can pull down to refresh.
What are the sounds?
A short cheer when a task is done and a bigger one when a reward is given. On iPhone they follow the ring/silent switch. On Android they follow media volume. Turn them off in Family → Sounds, or from the kid's Me tab.
Privacy & safety
What do you collect about my kid?
A display name, an avatar, a color, a username, and a PIN login, plus the activity in your family. No email, phone number, birthdate, location, or contacts.
Are there ads or analytics?
No ads and no advertising SDKs. No third-party analytics tied to a kid. We don't sell personal information.
Can anyone outside my family see my kid?
No. There are no public profiles, feeds, leaderboards between families, or messaging. The database only lets signed-in members of your family see your family's data.
How do I delete our data?
From inside the app, a parent can permanently delete a kid's account with all of their tasks, Mynts, rewards, and money history, or delete their own account. If the last parent deletes their account, the whole family is deleted. See the privacy policy for details.
Do you ask for parental consent?
Yes. Before a kid's account is created, the app shows a privacy notice, and the parent confirms they're the child's parent or guardian and consents. Withdrawing consent means deleting the kid's account.
Plans & availability
Is Myntley free?
Yes, with limits. The free plan covers the whole daily routine for up to 2 kids, 5 active tasks, and 2 rewards. Myntley Plus is an optional subscription that removes those limits and adds full stats. The app shows the price, billing period, and any trial before you buy.
How do I cancel or restore Plus?
Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or from Manage subscription on the Myntley Plus screen. Plus stays active until the end of the period you paid for. After reinstalling or switching phones, use Restore purchases on the Myntley Plus screen. One parent's subscription covers the whole family.
What happens if Plus ends?
Tasks and rewards over the free limits are paused, not deleted. Paused items are hidden from kids and come back if you subscribe again. Kids are never paused.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and Android phones. It runs on iPad, but the layout isn't designed for iPad yet.
Does it work offline?
Not yet. Myntley needs an internet connection to load and save. If it can't connect, it tells you and lets you try again.
Can I get it now?
Not yet. Myntley is being tested with a small number of families. This site is up early so the details are available before the app is.
Troubleshooting
The confirmation email never arrived.
Check spam first. If it isn't there, sign up again with the same email address. It's fine to open the link on a computer. The page will tell you to finish on your phone.
My kid can't sign in.
Check that the family code matches the one in Family → Sign-in & co-parent access, that the username is spelled right (capitals don't matter), and that the PIN is the 6-digit one you set. If the PIN is forgotten, set a new one from the kid's page.
I approved something but the balance looks wrong.
Open the kid's history. Every change is listed with where it came from. If something was recorded twice, undo one. If a balance stopped at zero, the entry says how many Mynts weren't taken.
A screen is blank or stuck.
Pull down to refresh. If that doesn't help, sign out and back in, and make sure the app is up to date. If it keeps happening, report it from Family → Send feedback, which includes technical details automatically.
Sounds aren't playing.
On iPhone, check the ring/silent switch. On Android, check media volume. Then check Family → Sounds, or the Me tab on the kid's device.
Still stuck? The help page has fixes for the most common problems, and Family → Send feedback in the app reports anything else to us.
